The air in the ancient ruins hung thick with the scent of damp earth and forgotten time. Stone teeth, gnawed by centuries of wind and rain, jutted from the overgrown landscape, remnants of a civilization that had long since crumbled into dust. Ethan Vance, his heart hammering a frantic rhythm against his ribs, scanned the crumbling archways and shadowed alcoves. Beside him, Dr. Eleanor Ainsworth clutched a tattered map, her knuckles white.
