The air, thick with the scent of salt and impending rain, had turned from the electric hum of anticipation to a low, guttural growl. The championship venue, a magnificent structure of glass and steel that had gleamed under the tropical sun only hours before, now shuddered. A tremor, not of excitement but of primal fear, ran through the earth. The lights flickered, then died, plunging the locker rooms and corridors into a disorienting darkness. Outside, the wind howled, a tormented beast clawing at the windows, and the rain began not as a drizzle, but as a furious deluge.

Isabella Rossi, mid-stretch in the Brazilian team's locker room, felt the floor lurch beneath her. Her heart, usually a rhythmic drumbeat of passion for the game, hammered a frantic tattoo against her ribs. "What was that?" she exclaimed, her voice tight with alarm. Across from her, Daniela, their libero, was already on her feet, eyes wide. "It felt like… an earthquake," she whispered, her usual effervescence replaced by a chilling stillness.

In the adjacent locker room, Kenji Tanaka, meticulously wiping down his kneepads, froze. His analytical mind, usually so quick to dissect an opponent's serve or a setter's tendencies, struggled to process the violent shaking. The carefully arranged equipment around him clattered and fell. He instinctively reached for the wall, his knuckles white. Beside him, Hiroshi, their captain, was already shouting instructions, his voice cutting through the rising din of panic. "Stay calm! Everyone, stay calm!"
