The world had a way of tilting on its axis, and lately, mine felt like it was permanently stuck in a seismic event. One minute, I was contemplating the existential dread of a pop quiz on *The Great Gatsby* (honestly, who cared about green lights when you had a perfectly good bottle of Xanax calling your name?), the next, I was staring at the ceiling, the familiar, unwelcome weight of despair pressing down on my chest. This was it. Rock bottom. Or maybe it was just Tuesday. Hard to tell when your life felt like a poorly written soap opera.

My therapist, Dr. Anya, bless her perpetually optimistic heart, had prescribed "socialization" as my cure-all. Apparently, my antisocial tendencies were best tackled by, you know, *being social*. Brilliant. Her office, with its beige walls and questionable abstract art, felt like a personal purgatory. Today, however, even the promise of a mild sedative felt like too much effort. The pills, a colorful arsenal of uppers, downers, and mood stabilizers, sat in their various containers on my nightstand, a miniature pharmacy promising oblivion or a fleeting moment of calm. The choice, as always, was mine. And lately, the choice felt less like a choice and more like an inevitability.

Jecka. My Jecka. She was the only thing that kept the spinning world from completely dissolving into a blurry mess. We had this arrangement, see. Friends with benefits. It was supposed to be simple. No strings, no messy emotions, just… physical release. And for a while, it was. But somewhere between the whispered confessions in the dark and the shared warmth of tangled limbs, something shifted. Or maybe it was just me, the sociopath who was apparently incapable of genuine connection, finally cracking under the pressure of her own carefully constructed facade.
