As Mary pets Starry, she notices the kitten is incredibly good at balancing! Starry can walk along the edge of the rug without a wobble. Mary is amazed by her steady paws.

The quiet hum of the afternoon was broken by a soft purr as I gently stroked Starry’s tiny back. She was curled up on my lap, a warm, furry ball of contentment, her little chest rising and falling with each breath. Her blue eyes, usually so wide and darting, were half-closed, lost in the sleepy bliss of a well-loved kitten. Luna sat beside me on the floor, her long brown hair falling around her shoulders like a silken curtain, a happy smile gracing her lips as she watched her pets. Snowy, the sleek white cat, was perched regally on the arm of the sofa, his tail giving a slow, deliberate flick as if he were the king of this cozy living room.

“She’s so sweet when she’s sleepy, isn’t she?” Luna whispered, her voice soft with affection.

I nodded, my heart swelling with a feeling I’d only ever dreamed of. Having Luna here was wonderful, but having her furry companions, Snowy and Starry, was like a little piece of magic had landed in my home. My fingers traced the delicate curve of Starry’s ear, and as I did, my gaze drifted to the edge of the plush rug beneath us. It was a thick, woven thing, with a slightly raised border that was usually just a part of the floor. But then, Starry shifted, stretching out one tiny paw, and I saw it.
