The Visit Nears Its End
The sun begins to set, signaling the end of Luna's visit. Mary feels a little sad but happy about the wonderful time they've shared. Snowy and Starry yawn, ready for home.
The sky outside Mary’s window began to blush with shades of orange and pink, like a giant, friendly peach. It was a sure sign that Luna’s visit, as wonderful as it had been, was drawing to a close. A little pang of sadness tickled Mary’s tummy, but it was quickly followed by a warm, happy feeling, like a sunbeam spreading through her chest. She looked over at Luna, who was sitting on the floor, gently stroking Snowy’s soft fur. Starry, tucked beside Luna’s leg, let out a tiny, contented purr.
“It’s getting late,” Mary said softly, not wanting to break the peaceful moment.
Luna looked up, her bright blue eyes a little hazy with sleepiness. “I know,” she replied, her voice a little quiet. “Snowy and Starry are starting to get sleepy too. Look!” She pointed to Snowy, who was stretching languidly, his back arching like a tiny, furry bridge. Starry, meanwhile, had curled into a fluffy ball, her little white tail twitching occasionally in a dream.
