Luna's Little Worry
Luna watches Snowy and Starry. She admits to Mary that sometimes they can be a handful, but she loves them dearly. Mary reassures her that they are wonderful pets.
The afternoon sun dappled through the living room window, painting golden stripes across the plush rug. I watched Luna’s white cat, Snowy, stretch languidly on the windowsill, his tail giving a slow, contented flick. Beside him, the tiny white kitten, Starry, was batting playfully at a dust mote dancing in the light. It was all so peaceful, so perfect. Luna sat beside me on the sofa, a gentle smile gracing her lips as she observed her furry companions.
“They’re just so… lovely, aren’t they?” I murmured, my voice soft. My heart felt full, watching Luna’s pets. They were so different from the imaginary pets I’d always dreamed of, yet they sparked the same warmth, the same longing.
Luna sighed, a tiny puff of air that barely disturbed the quiet. “They are,” she agreed, but her smile flickered, just for a second. Her bright blue eyes, usually so full of adventure, held a hint of something else. A tiny worry, perhaps?
