She chose her finest weapon: a creature of unparalleled beauty, steeped in deception. Her mission: to find the child of prophecy and corrupt him, to extinguish the nascent flame before it could ignite.
The air in my chambers, usually thick with the scent of aged parchment and the faint, comforting aroma of incense, felt strangely charged. A subtle shift, imperceptible to most, but to me, a tremor in the spiritual currents that flowed through the kingdom of light. It was a whisper, a premonition, a shadow attempting to coalesce in the periphery of my awareness. I had grown accustomed to such visitations, these nudges from the unseen, but this one carried a different weight, a more deliberate intent.
I closed my eyes, focusing my inner sight, letting the mundane world recede. The prophecy, a tapestry woven into the very fabric of my existence, unfurled in my mind’s eye. I was the child of light, destined to stand against the encroaching darkness. Yet, even with this understanding, the machinations of the enemy remained a constant, veiled threat.
The Goddess of Darkness. Even her name, spoken only in hushed tones by those who dared, carried a chill that seeped into the bones. She had felt the celestial birth, the ripple of my arrival. A ripple that, to her, was a seismic disruption. Her fear, I sensed, was a potent, corrosive thing, driving her to desperate measures. And now, she had dispatched her most potent weapon.
