Ryan returns home with an old newspaper article from 1975 that reveals a scientist predicted the Shirt Phenomenon would become a normal part of life. Jenny reads the article and feels a surprising sense of validation, realizing her experience is part of a larger historical pattern. The family discusses how far society has come, and Jenny gains a new sense of belonging.
The afternoon had drifted into that perfect stretch where the house felt quiet and full. It was a lazy Friday afternoon, and the brownies were already in the oven, filling the kitchen with a rich chocolate scent. Jenny and Rachel had finished scraping the last of the batter from the bowl, laughing like kids again. After helping tidy up, Jenny wandered back into the living room for a little wind-down.
She paused in front of the blanket fort, its afghan walls now sagging and lopsided after their earlier adventures. With a small, fond smile, she began taking it down, removing the cushions and pillows and placing them back on the couch where they belonged. She carefully draped the afghan over the back of the sofa, putting everything away piece by piece until the living room looked almost normal again. Only the dragon claw remained on the coffee table, sitting there like a quiet talisman.
Jenny sank onto the couch, her legs tucked under a light throw, her polo hem stubbornly high but no longer a source of tension. It was simply part of her now. She picked up her phone and started scrolling through YouTube, letting the mid-afternoon drift by.
