The name "The Weaver" had surfaced, a phantom figure orchestrating this elaborate dance of illicit trade, his threads reaching into places Anya couldn't yet fathom. She knew she was treading on dangerous ground, a lone operative in a world of shadows and secrets, but the gnawing injustice of it all propelled her forward.
Her small apartment, usually a haven of quiet comfort, now felt like a cage. Every creak of the floorboards, every distant siren, sent a jolt of adrenaline through her. She’d tried to reach out to Detective Rostova again, but her calls went unanswered, her emails unacknowledged. Perhaps the detective was busy, or perhaps Anya’s claims, lacking concrete proof, sounded like the ramblings of an overzealous citizen. The isolation was beginning to weigh on her, a heavy cloak of doubt.
