The scent of expensive paper and the faint hum of sophisticated machinery were the familiar perfumes of VS Company’s design studio. It had been months since I’d last set foot in this place, months since the sting of Valerie’s disapproval had driven me to the familiar comfort of a badminton court and the exhilarating rush of a race track. But here I was again, standing before a blank drafting table, a fresh set of blueprints spread out before me, and a knot of nervous anticipation tightening in my stomach.

Valerie sat opposite me, her usual cool composure a stark contrast to the tempest brewing inside me. Her eyes, sharp and discerning, scanned the initial sketches of the new VS corporate headquarters. I’d poured everything into these designs, not just architectural principles, but a piece of my soul. This time, I was determined not to let her icy demeanor freeze my ambition.

“The structural integrity seems sound,” Valerie began, her voice a low, measured tone that still managed to send a shiver down my spine. She tapped a long, manicured finger on a section of the plans. “But the flow. It feels… restricted. As if you’re trying to contain the very essence of the company within these walls.”
