It was a cradle and a prison, a vessel of salvation and a testament to their isolation.

Naamah moved with a quiet grace, her hands busy with the endless tasks of caring for their family and the menagerie entrusted to their keeping. She soothed the young, her voice a gentle balm against the thunder’s rumble, and tended to the elders, her touch steady and comforting. Her eyes, though, often held a faraway look, a silent communion with the unseen God who had placed this burden, and this hope, upon them. She would watch Noah, his face etched with a weariness that went bone-deep, and offer him a silent strength, a shared understanding that passed between them without words.

“Another day, my love,” she’d say, her voice soft, as he emerged from the dim, animal-filled chambers, his clothes still carrying the scent of hay and damp fur.
