Despite Milkah's over-the-top meddling, Daniel and Sarah find themselves genuinely connecting. Their conversations flow, shared interests emerge, and an undeniable spark ignites, much to Milkah's delighted surprise.

The air in the cafe was thick with the aroma of burnt sugar and desperation. Mine, mostly. Daniel, bless his patient, perpetually bewildered soul, was across from me, looking like a startled deer caught in the headlights of a particularly aggressive dating app advertisement. This was Phase Four: The “Accidental” Coffee Encounter. I’d strategically positioned myself at a table adjacent to theirs, armed with a book I had zero intention of reading and a mental checklist of all the ways I could subtly (or not so subtly) steer this conversation toward romantic potential.

“So,” I began, my voice a little too bright, a little too loud, “Daniel, you were telling me about that… that thing you’re working on. The… paperclip project?”

Daniel blinked. Sarah, bless her imperturbable heart, offered a gentle smile. “He was telling me about a new algorithm he’s developing for optimizing supply chains,” she clarified, her voice smooth as polished river stones. “It sounds fascinating, Daniel. Especially the part about minimizing waste.”
