The air in the Stone pack territory always carried a certain weight, a subtle hum of primal energy that resonated deep within my bones. But lately, it felt heavier, laced with an undercurrent of unease that mirrored the turmoil churning in my own chest. Damon, the Alpha, was a force of nature, and his attention, though intoxicating, was also a beacon drawing unwanted scrutiny. It wasn't just his gaze that made me nervous; it was the way the pack members watched me, their eyes flicking from me to Damon, then back again, as if piecing together a puzzle they couldn't quite solve.

Mia Blake was the conductor of this symphony of suspicion. Her presence was a constant, icy chill that clung to the edges of our interactions. He was the Alpha, after all. His focus was on the pack’s well-being, on maintaining order. My own private anxieties, and Mia’s petty machinations, were likely beneath his notice. Yet, there were moments, fleeting but potent, when I caught him watching me with an intensity that suggested he saw more than I was willing to reveal. A furrow in his brow when Mia was near, a subtle tightening of his jaw, a sudden inquiry about my day that felt a little too pointed.
