Chapter 4
Subtle Stalking
Mia starts her campaign, subtly undermining Lyla. Small acts of sabotage and veiled threats create an atmosphere of unease, designed to push Lyla out before she can settle.
The scent of pine and damp earth was a constant, comforting presence, a stark contrast to the sterile, metallic tang of the city I’d fled. Here, in the secluded valley that served as the Stonehaven pack’s domain, life breathed with a rhythm dictated by the moon and the rustle of leaves. I’d hoped for anonymity, for a place where the shadows of my past couldn't find me. But anonymity, I was quickly learning, was a luxury this pack, and its Alpha, Damon Stone, did not readily afford.

A spool of thread I’d been using for a mending project would vanish, only to resurface tucked away in a drawer I rarely opened. These were minor annoyances, easily dismissed as forgetfulness. But the feeling persisted – a subtle disruption, a deliberate rearrangement of my carefully curated peace.
