“It’s happening,” she whispered, her voice raspy, barely audible above the frantic thrumming in her chest. She scrolled through the news feeds, the headlines screaming disaster. “Global Markets in Freefall!” “Unprecedented Sell-Off!” “Is This the End of the Digital Economy?” Each word was a hammer blow, echoing the dread that had been building in her gut for weeks. She saw the panic erupting in real-time, the fear spreading like a contagion through the online forums and trading platforms. The default wild, usually a playground for the daring and the desperate, had become a battlefield.
