Kelly, my little shadow, shivered beside me, her small hand clutching mine with a grip that spoke of more than just the cold. Her eyes, usually bright with a quiet curiosity, held a shadow of apprehension that mirrored my own.
"Keller," she murmured, her voice barely audible above the sigh of the wind, "are we… safe here?"
The question hung between us, heavy and unanswered. Safe? We were alive, yes. Agenda, with its predictable sunsets and endless supply of lukewarm pizza, now felt like a lost paradise. Here, in this land of grey skies and wary faces, purpose wasn't found in grand quests, but in the small, desperate acts of survival.
