The Sorcerer's Whim
We get a glimpse of Malakor, the ancient sorcerer, bored out of his mind. He's conjured the dinosaurs for amusement, finding the ensuing panic mildly entertaining. He's just getting started.
The air thrummed with a low, guttural hum, a sound that vibrated not just in the eardrums, but in the very marrow of one’s bones. High above the fray, in a shimmering citadel that defied gravity and good taste, sat Malakor the Mildly Annoyed. His throne, a monstrous obsidian slab encrusted with what looked suspiciously like petrified disco balls, creaked under his considerable, albeit ancient, weight. He sighed, a gust of ozone and ennui that ruffled the silken robes of a color best described as ‘regal disappointment.’
“Another Tuesday,” he grumbled, idly flicking a finger. A miniature volcano on a nearby pedestal erupted, spewing forth a puff of smoke that smelled vaguely of burnt sugar. “Honestly, the sheer predictability of it all. Humans. Always running. Always screaming. It’s all so… *been there, done that*, you know?”
His gaze, the color of a dying nebula, drifted to a panoramic view of the world below. A herd of Triceratops, their formidable frills adorned with what appeared to be hastily spray-painted peace signs, were currently engaged in a spirited game of bumper cars with a convoy of bewildered delivery trucks. Further off, a particularly antsy Pterodactyl was attempting to land a dramatic three-point turn on the roof of a skyscraper, eliciting a chorus of terrified shrieks from the office workers trapped inside.
