The air crackled with a scent Leo couldn't quite place – a mix of ozone and something vaguely floral, like a storm brewing in a perfumery. He stumbled onto what felt like moss, impossibly soft and springy, the kind that grew only in the deepest, most untouched parts of ancient forests. Above him, the sky wasn’t blue, but a swirling tapestry of emerald and violet, shot through with threads of silver that pulsed like distant lightning. Trees, if they could be called that, twisted and coiled in impossible shapes, their leaves like stained glass, catching the alien light. This was a world far stranger than the last, and the last had been, well, *weird*.

He’d been running, of course. Always running. Ever since the first shimmering anomaly had swallowed him whole, spitting him out into a landscape that defied logic. Each portal had been a gamble, a terrifying leap of faith, and each had chewed him up and spat him out somewhere new, somewhere more bizarre. The portals themselves seemed to have a hunger, a voracious appetite for the very fabric of reality, leaving behind a trail of fractured worlds and collapsing dimensions. He’d learned to be quick, to be observant, to feel the subtle shifts in the air that signaled an impending collapse.

He was alone. Utterly, profoundly alone. The thought was a cold knot in his stomach, a secret fear he tried not to acknowledge. What if he was destined to wander these shifting realms forever? What if his curiosity, the very trait that had led him on this grand adventure, was actually a curse that would seal his fate?
