The air in this new world was thick with the scent of damp earth and something faintly metallic, like old coins left out in the rain. Towering, moss-draped trees clawed at a bruised-purple sky, their gnarled branches heavy with bioluminescent fungi that pulsed with a soft, ethereal glow. Leo, his boots sinking slightly into the spongy ground, scanned his surroundings with a mixture of awe and unease. This was unlike any of the previous worlds; it felt ancient, untamed, a place where shadows held secrets and the very silence seemed to hum with a hidden energy.

He’d barely taken a dozen steps when a flash of movement caught his eye. A creature, sleek and black as midnight, darted from behind a colossal fern, its emerald eyes glinting with an intelligence that Leo rarely saw in the wild. It wasn't a bird, nor a rodent, but something far more graceful. It stopped, perched on a fallen log, and tilted its head, regarding him with an unnerving stillness.

“Well, well,” a voice purred, startling Leo so much that he stumbled back, his hand instinctively reaching for the worn leather of his satchel. The voice hadn’t come from his own thoughts, nor from the rustling leaves. It had come from the creature.
