Chapter 4
A Shadow Falls
The wonder of the new world is shattered by a terrifying presence. A dark entity begins to stalk Bianca and her classmates, its malevolent intent palpable. Fear grips the group as they realize they are being hunted.
The crystalline spires of Aethelburg, once a breathtaking spectacle of impossible architecture and ethereal light, now seemed to cast long, distorted shadows across Bianca’s mind. The initial awe, the sheer, unadulterated wonder of a world spun from starlight and dreams, had begun to fray at the edges, replaced by a gnawing unease. It started subtly, a flicker at the periphery of vision, a rustle in the unnervingly silent, manicured gardens that lined the city’s impossibly clean avenues. The uniform they’d been given, soft as moonbeams, now felt flimsy, a poor defense against the prickling fear that had begun to bloom in Bianca’s chest.
Bianca nodded, her gaze sweeping across the plaza. The Aethelburgians, with their luminous eyes and serene expressions, moved with a grace that was almost unnerving. They seemed oblivious to the shift in the atmosphere, their white robes flowing like liquid moonlight. “It sounded… angry,” she murmured, her voice barely a whisper.
