Chapter 7: The Words of Grandmother
Eve leads Adam, Sarah, Lily, Gabriel, and Miriam to a sacred cavern where they commune with Grandmother, the creator. Grandmother reveals that Adam's father Kael is alive but poisoned, and sets a quest: retrieve the Heartwood Blossom from the Obsidian Vale before dawn to save him. The stakes are raised as they must confront the faction and possibly Samael.
The path wound upward through a grove of trees whose bark glowed with soft blue light. Two moons hung overhead, silver and gold, casting overlapping shadows that danced like living things. Adam kept his mother close, Lily's hand in his, while Miriam walked beside Gabriel, her silver hair catching the strange light.
"Eve's chambers are just beyond the ridge," Gabriel said. "She will want to hear Miriam's account directly."
They crested the ridge and a wide clearing opened before them. In its center stood a figure draped in robes of woven starlight—silver threads that shimmered with every breath. Eve turned as they approached, her face kind but lined with the weight of centuries.
