Chapter 8
A Glimmer of Hope
Intern receives a cryptic message, a hint of help from an unexpected source. He must decipher its meaning while evading capture, his investigative instincts kicking into high gear.
The static crackled in my ears, a familiar symphony of chaos that had become the soundtrack to my life. Not the clean, crisp static of a faulty microphone, but the jagged, digital kind that felt like shards of glass scraping against my eardrums. It was the sound of the signal being toyed with, bent, and broken. My heart hammered against my ribs, a frantic drumbeat against the encroaching silence. I was trapped, not just in this sterile, echoing room, but in a game I hadn’t agreed to play. The ‘rescue mission’ had morphed into something far more sinister, and I, Intern, the supposed famous investigator turned radio host, was now the unwilling star of a broadcast I couldn't control.

The woman whose gaze could either promise salvation or signal my end. I’d replayed those moments in my head a thousand times. The way her eyes would linger, a flicker of something unreadable passing between us before she’d deliver a perfectly timed, yet utterly bizarre, joke. Was it a genuine connection, or a carefully constructed facade? The uncertainty was a gnawing beast in my gut.
Then, it happened. A flicker on the small monitor in front of me, not part of the usual broadcast feed. A single, stark message, appearing and disappearing like a phantom limb.
