With time running out, Intern decides to take a bold risk. He plans to use the broadcast itself as a weapon, a desperate move to expose the controller and their network.
The silence in the studio wasn't just awkward anymore; it was a suffocating blanket, heavy with the unspoken. Outside, the city lights blurred into streaks of neon, a stark contrast to the suffocating stillness inside. My fingers drummed a frantic rhythm against the console, each beat a tiny explosion of panic. The red light of the microphone felt less like an invitation to speak and more like a spotlight on my impending doom. They were watching. Waiting. And I, Intern, famous investigator turned radio host turned unwitting pawn, was about to become the main event.
"So," Anya's voice, usually a smooth, confident purr that could melt glaciers, was a fragile thread tonight, stretched taut over the chasm of our shared predicament. "What do you think, Intern? Any brilliant ideas brewing in that famous investigator brain of yours?"
Her eyes, when they flickered towards me, were a kaleidoscope of uncertainty. Was that a spark of genuine concern, or was it the cold, calculating glint of someone who knew exactly how this was going to end? I couldn’t tell. Not anymore. The lines had blurred, the carefully constructed facade of our professional relationship crumbling under the weight of this manufactured crisis.
