The Intern's Role
Subject Four confronts Silas Vane in the warehouse where Leo is held captive. A tense standoff and a revelation about the intern's true role lead to a violent confrontation. Captain Sharma returns to help, and Maggie Chen's FBI contact arrives. Vane is captured, Leo is freed, and the case is resolved. Subject Four reflects on the intern's role and what comes next.
Vane's smile widened as I stepped through the doorway. The revolver felt heavy in my waistband, but I didn't reach for it. Not yet.
"The journalist who couldn't stay retired," Vane said. "I should have known you'd find your way here."
I kept my hands visible. "Let him go, Vane. It's over. The evidence is already with the FBI."
