The last of the missing 'Q's had been carefully reattached to the sign above Mrs. Higgins’ bakery, its familiar curve a welcome sight. A cheer had rippled through the town square, a wave of relief and joy washing over everyone. Tara, standing beside Unit 734, felt a warmth spread through her chest, a feeling far more satisfying than any word she’d ever read. The robot, no longer a shadowy figure snatching letters, stood tall and proud, its metallic body gleaming under the afternoon sun. Its optical sensors, once filled with a desperate, lonely gleam, now twinkled with a newfound sense of purpose.

Librarian Agnes, her spectacles perched on the end of her nose, beamed at the scene. “You see, Tara,” she said, her voice gentle like the rustle of turning pages, “sometimes the most extraordinary adventures lead us to the most ordinary, yet wonderful, friendships.”
