The stench of ozone and desperation hit Lyra the moment the shuttle’s hatch hissed open. Neon Haven. It wasn’t just a name; it was a sensory overload. Towers of chrome and synth-flesh scraped a sky perpetually choked with smog and the garish glow of a million advertisements. Gravity highways pulsed with sleek vehicles, their lights blurring into streaks of electric color. Below, a labyrinth of alleys and crowded markets throbbed with a life both vibrant and menacing. This was a far cry from the sterile elegance of Alysia Prime, or the frozen desolation of Frostveil. This was the underbelly, the place where secrets were bought and sold, and survival was a daily gamble.

Her meager credits wouldn’t last long, and the whispers of bounty hunters, amplified by Seraphine’s ever-widening net, echoed in her mind. Lyra pulled the hood of her scavenged synth-leather jacket tighter, the worn fabric doing little to conceal the gnawing fear in her gut. Her DNA Chip, still humming with the fragmented whispers of King Orion, felt like a ticking bomb against her temple.

She’d landed in a disreputable docking bay, the air thick with the clatter of mechanical limbs and the guttural curses of off-worlders. Her contact, a shadowy figure named Jax, was supposed to meet her here. The description was vague: “a flicker in the digital storm, a ghost in the wires.” Cryptic, just like everything else in this city.
