The descent into Obsidian Reach was not a gentle one. The shuttle, a battered relic Lyra had “acquired” from a smuggler on Neon Haven, groaned under the planetary’s oppressive gravity. Outside the reinforced viewport, a world of fire and ash churned. Jagged obsidian spires, remnants of ancient volcanic fury, clawed at a sky choked with perpetual smog. Rivers of molten rock snaked across the surface, casting an infernal glow that painted the roiling clouds in shades of blood and rust. This was no sanctuary; it was a hellhole.

“Reminds me of the slums back on Alysia Prime,” Jax muttered, his voice a low rumble from the co-pilot’s seat. He ran a gloved hand over the frayed fabric of his flight suit, his cybernetic eye whirring softly as it scanned the readouts. “Only with more lava and less hope.”

Lyra didn’t respond. Her gaze was fixed on the data flickering across her personal holographic interface, projected directly from her DNA Chip. King Orion’s final message, a ghost in the machine, was a constant hum in her mind. *“Obsidian Reach. The forgotten ones. The key lies within their despair. Seek the Forge of Ages.”* The words were etched into her very being, a promise and a burden. Her father’s face flashed in her memory, the warmth of his smile extinguished by Seraphine’s cold ambition. That memory was the fuel that kept her moving, the burning ember in the pit of her stomach that refused to be quenched by the fear gnawing at her.
