Its cities, vast and intricate, weren’t built on land but floated like colossal, bioluminescent jellyfish upon an endless, shimmering ocean. Lyra, hunched over a flickering console, felt a prickle of unease. Water worlds always did that to her. The sheer, crushing weight of it all, the unseen depths teeming with… well, whatever lurked beneath the surface.

“Still no sign of them, Lyra?” Kaelen’s voice, a low rumble from the back of the cramped bridge, was laced with his usual wariness. He was a mountain of a man, his scarred hands currently polishing a plasma rifle with meticulous care. His past, like Lyra’s, was a tapestry of hardship, a shared understanding forged in the fires of escape.

Lyra tapped a sequence into the holographic interface. “Their fleet is vast, Kaelen. Spreading out across thousands of kilometers of ocean. We’re a tiny speck, trying to outrun a leviathan.” Her DNA Chip hummed, a subtle warmth against her temple, processing sensor data, cross-referencing known Imperial naval patterns. “But there’s a concentration of activity near the Mariana Trench cluster. That’s where the old legends say the deepest secrets are buried.”
