The spectral whispers, once faint and teasing, now seemed to weave themselves into the very fabric of the air, a mournful chorus that tugged at the edges of their sanity. Al, his eyes wide and unfocused, was the conduit for this ethereal lament. He clutched his head, a low groan escaping his lips. "It’s… it’s so sad," he breathed, his voice barely audible above the rising tide of unseen sorrow. "She’s… she’s so afraid."

Thomas, his usual bravado tempered by the palpable despair that clung to the manor like a shroud, placed a hand on Al’s shoulder. "Al, what is it? What are you hearing?"

Al flinched, his gaze snapping to Thomas. "She’s trapped, Thomas. Not just her, but… something she’s trying to protect. It’s a love, a betrayal… and a desperate plea." He gestured vaguely towards a darkened alcove, where the shadows seemed to writhe with an unnatural life of their own. "It’s… over there. I feel it. A hollow space, a hidden place."
