The air grew thick, heavy with the scent of decay and something else… something metallic and ancient, like old blood mixed with forgotten dust. The shifting corridors of Blackwood Manor, once merely disorienting, now seemed to writhe with a malevolent life of their own. Walls pulsed, the very stone groaning as if in agony, and the floor beneath their feet tilted and swayed like the deck of a storm-tossed ship. Thomas, his usual bravado tinged with a grim determination, kept his eyes fixed ahead, a spectral compass guiding him towards the heart of the house. “It’s shifting again!” Gabe exclaimed, his voice cracking with a mixture of fear and exhilaration. “The geometry… it’s all wrong. It’s like… like the house is trying to expel us, or trap us, depending on its mood.”

“Or maybe it’s just falling apart, Gabe,” Joe retorted, his voice tight. “This place is ancient. Old houses do weird things.”
