Facing imminent danger, Joe's skepticism crumbles. He recalls a childhood fascination with local legends, realizing the entity is tied to a dark ritual performed long ago, a secret he'd buried.
The air in the grand foyer hung thick and heavy, a suffocating blanket woven from dust, decay, and something far more sinister. Thomas, ever the instigator, had finally gotten them here, to Blackwood Manor, the undisputed king of haunted houses, a place whispered about in hushed tones and avoided by all sensible folk. Joe, Al, Eric, and Gabe stood behind him, a motley crew united by a shared dare and a rapidly dwindling supply of bravado. The massive oak doors, groaning like ancient titans, had slammed shut moments after their entry, sealing them in with the darkness.
Al, predictably, was already a trembling mess, his eyes wide and darting, scanning the cavernous space for any sign of movement. "I don't like this, Thomas," he stammered, his voice barely a whisper. "This feels… wrong. More wrong than usual."
Gabe, however, practically vibrated with excitement, his gaze sweeping over the cobweb-draped chandeliers and the portraits on the walls whose painted eyes seemed to follow their every move. "Wrong? Al, this is incredible! This is exactly what we came for!" He clutched his phone, ready to capture any spectral manifestation.
