Chapter 8
Escalating Control
Eleanor's yandere tendencies manifest more strongly. She starts isolating Mark, viewing any female attention towards him as a threat she must eliminate.
Eleanor’s gaze, once warm and soft like sun-drenched honey, had begun to acquire a sharper, almost predatory glint. It was a subtle shift, at first, a flicker in her eyes when Mark mentioned a new colleague, a slight tightening of her lips when he spoke of plans that didn’t involve her. But the seeds Jake had so carefully sown were taking root, blossoming into something far more unsettling. The maternal protectiveness, once a gentle embrace, was hardening into an unyielding cage.

He couldn’t articulate the suffocating feeling, the way her questions had become interrogations, her concern a suffocating blanket.
One Tuesday evening, Mark was recounting a particularly frustrating day at the office to his mother over dinner. He’d mentioned a new client, a bright young woman named Chloe, who had a knack for innovative marketing strategies. Eleanor, who had been meticulously dissecting a piece of chicken with unnerving precision, froze. Her fork clattered against her plate.
