Chapter 4
A Mother's Growing Grip
Eleanor's obsession with Mark intensifies, fueled by Jake's insidious suggestions. Her behavior becomes noticeably erratic, causing concern within the family.
Eleanor’s world had always revolved around Mark. From the moment he was born, a tiny, perfect miracle, she had poured every ounce of her being into his care. Diaper changes, scraped knees, school plays, first dates – each milestone was a testament to her devotion. Arthur, her husband, was a good man, a provider, but his focus was often elsewhere, lost in the intricate dance of his business empire. Mark, however, he was her sun, her moon, her stars. “Mark’s been so stressed lately, hasn’t he, Mrs. Davies?” Jake had mused, swirling the lukewarm tea in his mug. “He mentioned some… difficulties at work. And with Sarah… it’s just so unfair. He deserves someone who truly appreciates him, someone who understands him completely.”
