Chapter 8
Leo's Ingenuity
Leo studies the schematics, adapting them with 2023 technology. He faces the challenge of building a device capable of bridging the four-year gap.
The attic air hung thick and still, a tapestry woven from dust motes dancing in the lone shaft of sunlight and the faint, sweet scent of forgotten lavender. Leo, hunched over the sprawling, brittle schematics spread across an old steamer trunk, looked less like a boy and more like a seasoned cartographer charting a course through uncharted territories. Kira leaned closer, her eyes scanning the complex diagrams. They depicted a device, a shimmering, almost ethereal contraption that seemed to hum with a power far beyond anything she’d ever encountered. It was a portal, a gateway, a bridge across the chasm of time. But the materials, the energy sources, the very principles upon which it was based, were alien to her understanding of twenty-first-century science.
