Chapter 16
Trapped in Time
Thorne discovers the intruders. He activates a temporal stasis field, trapping Kira and her friends, intending to study them.

Kira nodded, her gaze sweeping across the impossibly clean surfaces. It was so different from the frantic, cluttered attic where she’d first found her mother’s letters. Here, order reigned supreme, a chilling, sterile perfection. She clutched the small, worn locket around her neck, its cool metal a familiar comfort. Inside, a miniature, faded photograph of her parents smiled back, their faces a beacon in the encroaching uncertainty.
