Using Leo's hacking skills and Maya's strategic diversions, they infiltrate Thorne Industries, searching for any sign of Kira's parents.
The sleek, obsidian towers of Thorne Industries pierced the smog-laden sky, a monument to ambition and, Kira suspected, a chilling void where humanity ought to be. It was a fortress of glass and steel, a place where cold logic reigned supreme, and the whisper of poetry would surely be anathema. But here, nestled in the heart of this imposing structure, were the answers she craved, and perhaps, the parents she desperately missed.
“Alright, Leo, you’re up,” Maya murmured, her voice a low thrum against the hum of the city below. They were crouched in the shadow of a gargantuan, chrome sculpture that seemed to mimic a DNA helix, a stark contrast to the organic flow of the poems that had guided them this far. The air thrummed with the nervous energy of their shared mission.
Leo, his brow furrowed in concentration, tapped away at a holographic interface projected from a device no larger than a credit card. His fingers danced across the shimmering light, a blur of practiced precision. “The security protocols here are… aggressive,” he muttered, a hint of awe in his voice. “Thorne really didn’t want any unexpected guests. But ‘aggressive’ doesn’t mean ‘impenetrable’.” A faint, triumphant chime echoed from his device. “Got it. The main lobby access is open for precisely ninety seconds. That’s our window, Kira. You ready?”
