Chapter 10
The First Leap
With Leo's device ready, Kira, Leo, and Maya attempt their first temporal jump. The transition is jarring, filled with disorienting sensations.
The air in Leo’s garage crackled, not just with the hum of his latest contraption, but with a palpable tension that seemed to coil around them like a physical entity. Kira, Leo, and Maya stood in a tight circle, the device at the center of their universe a chaotic symphony of wires, blinking lights, and a shimmering, unstable sphere of energy. Leo ran a hand through his already disheveled hair, a nervous tic he’d developed over the past week. “As sure as I can be, Maya. The calculations are solid. The energy readings are… well, they’re within acceptable parameters for a first jump. Mostly.” He offered a weak grin, which did little to reassure either of them.
