The frigid air of Cache Valley seemed to cling to my clothes even after I’d left Logan Regional Medical Center behind. It wasn’t just the typical Utah winter chill; this was a deeper, more pervasive cold, the kind that seeped into your bones and whispered of things unseen. I’d heard the whispers, of course, about Logan Regional, about the unsettling occurrences that seemed to plague its halls. But it wasn’t until I was a patient there myself that I truly understood.

It started subtly, as these things often do. During a routine check-up, my nurse, a kind woman named Brenda with eyes that held a perpetual weariness, was adjusting my IV drip. Suddenly, her hand froze, her gaze fixed on a point just beyond my shoulder. Her breath hitched. “Did you see that?” she whispered, her voice barely audible. I turned, but there was nothing there but the sterile white wall. “See what?” I asked, my own heart beginning to thump a nervous rhythm. She shook her head, a faint tremor in her hand. “Just… a shadow. It moved so fast.”
