Williyar starts to see his wings not just as a source of embarrassment, but as a tool. He begins practicing with more intention, driven by the desire to be helpful.

The morning sun, usually a timid visitor that crept through Williyar’s window, seemed to burst through with an unusual boldness. It painted stripes of gold across the worn rug, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air like tiny, forgotten stars. Williyar, still tangled in the remnants of a dream where he was a teacup being spun on a giant potter's wheel, blinked his eyes open. The familiar flutter of anxiety in his chest was there, a low hum beneath the surface, but today, it was accompanied by something else. A flicker of… resolve.

He sat up, the worn quilt pooling around his waist. His gaze drifted to the corner of the room where the wings, still somewhat dusty from their last haphazard adventure, were draped over a sturdy chair. They were magnificent, in their own peculiar way. Feathers the colour of storm clouds, tipped with streaks of improbable sunset orange. They looked heavy, unwieldy, and utterly ridiculous. And yet, they were his. A gift from a man who smelled faintly of ozone and regret, a man whose eyes twinkled with the mischief of a thousand forgotten fireworks.

Last week, after the dizzying terror of the runaway hot air balloon, after the squeals of the children had been replaced by their tearful, relieved hugs, something had shifted. The memory of their small hands clinging to his arms, the sheer, unadulterated joy in their wide eyes when he’d managed to steer them safely back to the ground, it lingered. It was a warmth that spread through him, chasing away the shadows of his usual self-consciousness. He hadn’t just been Williyar, the boy who tripped over his own feet and blushed when spoken to. He had been Williyar, the boy who flew.
