Maya discovers that their town holds a deeper connection to the artifact and Leo's realm than anyone realized. The school principal might hold a piece of this forgotten history.

The afternoon sun slanted through the dusty panes of the principal’s office, casting elongated shadows that danced like specters on the worn linoleum. Maya sat perched on the edge of an uncomfortable plastic chair, her hands clasped tightly in her lap. Across the imposing oak desk, Principal Thompson, a man whose thinning hair seemed perpetually at odds with his stern expression, tapped a pen against a stack of papers. The air in the room was thick with the scent of old books and something vaguely like lemon polish, a sterile counterpoint to the storm brewing in Maya’s mind.

“So, Maya,” Principal Thompson began, his voice a low rumble, “you’re telling me you’ve been seeing… symbols?” He paused, his eyebrows arching slightly. “And these symbols are somehow connected to the new student, Leo?”

Maya nodded, her gaze unwavering. “Yes, sir. They’re everywhere. On old walls, in the park, even on some of the older gravestones in the cemetery. And Leo… he draws them. I’ve seen him.” She hesitated, then plunged ahead. “And I think they mean something important. Something about him.”
