Chapter 13
The Infernal Bargain
The demon makes its presence known more overtly, appearing to the friends. It tempts them with power or offers desperate bargains, preying on their fears and desires. It targets Ethan's intellect.
The air in Ethan’s cramped attic room hung thick and heavy, not with dust, but with a palpable tension that seemed to vibrate from the very floorboards. Tonight, however, felt different. The oppressive atmosphere had intensified, morphing from a general dread into something more focused, more personal. It was as if the very room was holding its breath, waiting. Ethan’s fingers hovered over the keyboard, his usual flow of thought disrupted. He felt a prickling sensation on his skin, the hairs on his arms standing on end. Then, a voice, low and silken, slithered into the silence.
