Chapter 4

Chapter 4

Elara visits storage unit 17 on Dellinger Avenue and discovers Kael's extensive intelligence files on the Collectors, confirming the organization's reach and Desmond Crane's protected status. She cross-references the information with her own research and finds it consistent and alarming. Kael replies to her text about the moth tattoo, revealing the woman was his younger brother's art therapist who vanished after his death—a detail that deepens the connection between them. Elara drives to the warehouse that night to find Kael waiting. They share a charged conversation about trust, vulnerability, and what partnership means between two people who have only ever operated alone. The chapter ends with Elara committing to the partnership and Kael revealing his next lead on Crane's movements.

He'd been hiding in plain sight the entire time, wrapped in philanthropy and capital.

My phone buzzed at 12:47 p.m.
