They deduce the device was used by someone to guard something precious. The illusion was a deterrent, a clever way to maintain secrecy and protect a hidden secret from the public eye.
The hum of the device, once a source of unnerving mystery, now felt like a lullaby of revealed secrets. Hunter traced the intricate circuitry etched into the metallic surface, his fingers brushing over smooth, cool components. Beside him, Wagera peered over his shoulder, her brow furrowed in thought. They were in the heart of the underground chamber, a place that had once been a stage for spectral performances, now a quiet testament to a hidden purpose.
"So, the shadow wasn't really a shadow at all," Wagera mused, her voice soft, almost reverent. "It was… a projection. Like a hologram, but… older."
Hunter nodded, a thrill of understanding coursing through him. "Exactly. And it only appeared when we got close to the old buildings, near where the artifact is supposed to be. It was a warning. A way to keep people away."
