Embracing the Unknown
The air in Liam's apartment was thick with unspoken words, a palpable tension that had been building for weeks. It clung to the plush velvet of the sofa, permeated the scent of old books and Liam's signature sandalwood cologne. Noah sat across from him, his gaze fixed on the swirling amber liquid in his glass, his knuckles white where he gripped the stem. Liam watched him, his own heart a frantic drum against his ribs. The indecision had been a torment, a corrosive acid eating away at the edges of their shared reality. They had danced around it, skirted its edges, but now, the moment of truth had arrived, uninvited and unavoidable.
"We can't keep doing this, Liam," Noah finally said, his voice raspy, barely a whisper. He didn't look up, but his admission hung in the silence, heavy and resonant.
Liam swallowed, the dryness in his throat a physical manifestation of his anxiety. "Doing what, Noah? Hiding?"
