Chapter 4
Trapped in the Labyrinth
Serena's attention is now fixed on the investigators, her malevolent focus a tangible weight. The hotel transforms into a terrifying prison. Doors slam shut and lock themselves, trapping team members in separate rooms. Whispers, now personalized and insidious, prey on their deepest fears and insecurities. Asia hears phantom voices of past trauma, while Joseph is plagued by visions of the childhood incident he suppressed. Shadows twist into menacing shapes, mimicking their movements. Marty's research is interrupted by objects hurled across the room. Darren feels a growing despair, realizing Serena isn't just haunting the hotel; she's actively toying with them, isolating them, and breaking them down psychologically. Asia, ever the pragmatist, adjusted the strap of her camera bag, her eyes scanning the peeling wallpaper and the worn Persian rug that seemed to absorb all light. “Let’s hope it’s the one that doesn’t get us killed, Dar. This place is giving me the serious creeps.” A string of curses, expertly woven into her observation, punctuated her unease.
