My heart thrummed against my ribs, a frantic bird desperate for escape. I’d rehearsed this conversation a thousand times in my head, each scenario more awkward than the last. But tonight, with Noah’s gentle gaze holding mine, the words felt less like a confession and more like a shared breath.
“So,” Noah began, his voice a low rumble that always managed to soothe my jangled nerves. He picked at a loose thread on his jeans, a nervous habit I’d come to cherish. “We’ve… we’ve been on a few dates now.”
I nodded, a small smile playing on my lips. “A few. And they’ve been wonderful, Noah.”
