Chapter 15
Building Trust
Liam and Jake share a quiet evening, talking openly about their hopes and fears. Jake reassures Liam, promising patience and understanding as they explore their relationship.
The scent of pine needles and damp earth filled the air as Liam and I walked hand-in-hand through the hushed woods behind his cottage. I stopped, turning to face him. The moonlight caught the earnestness in his eyes, the vulnerability that he rarely let anyone see. It was that vulnerability, that quiet strength, that had drawn me to him from the moment I’d first seen him at the village fair, his face alight with wonder as he watched the performers. “Terrifying, yes,” I admitted, my voice a little husky. “But… good terrifying, right? Like standing on the edge of something amazing.”
