The Second Lander watched Elara skip ahead, her small figure a bright splash of color against the muted grays and browns of the settlement. The world, which others called a prison, felt to the Lander like a place holding its breath, a secret waiting to be whispered. They walked together, Elara pointing out the small wonders that dotted the landscape. A patch of moss, vibrant green and velvety, clinging to a crumbling wall. A single, stubborn flower pushing its way through a crack in the ferro-concrete, its petals the color of a sunset. To the Lander, these were not just plants; they were small acts of defiance, tiny rebellions against the overwhelming sense of order that permeated everything.
