Chapter 4
Echoes of Laughter
Elara shares moments of joy with the Second Lander, teaching them about games and wonder. Their shared laughter begins to chip away at the planet's oppressive atmosphere.
The Second Lander watched Elara, their large, liquid eyes reflecting the vibrant hues of the small, smooth stones she arranged in a circle on the dusty ground. She picked up a particularly bright, almost luminous stone and held it out to the Second Lander. "See? It catches the light like a tiny piece of the sky."
The Second Lander reached out, their own delicate, almost translucent fingers closing around the stone. It was warm, holding the memory of the sun. They turned it over and over, marveling at the way the light fractured within its depths. "It is… beautiful," they said, their voice a soft resonance, like wind chimes in a distant breeze. "Why did it become quiet?"
