The air in the new dimension thrummed with a barely perceptible tremor, a low-frequency hum that resonated not just in Alex’s ears, but deep within their bones. This was the Gauntlet, as the artifact had subtly, wordlessly, conveyed. It wasn't a place of gentle exploration, but a crucible, forged by Thorne’s insidious influence. Alex could feel it, a faint dissonance layered beneath the artifact’s usual comforting thrum, a malicious whisper attempting to twist the very fabric of this scientific reality.

Before them stretched a landscape that defied conventional physics. Crystalline structures, impossibly sharp and geometric, jutted from a ground that shimmered with an ethereal, opalescent light. Gravity seemed to be a suggestion rather than a law, with massive, floating islands drifting lazily overhead, tethered by strands of what looked like solidified starlight. This was a dimension designed to test, to push, to break. And Alex knew, with a cold knot of certainty, that Thorne had seeded it with traps.

“Alright,” Alex murmured, their voice a little shaky, but firm. They clutched the artifact, its familiar warmth a small anchor in this sea of strangeness. "Let's see what you've got, Thorne."
